Crossroads Therapy provides occupational therapy for children and young people who may need support with everyday skills, independence, regulation, movement, play, learning or participation at home, nursery, school or within their wider community.
Therapy is planned around the individual child. Sessions may focus on developing practical skills, building confidence, supporting emotional regulation, improving motor coordination, increasing independence, or helping children access daily routines and learning environments more successfully.
We work closely with families, schools, nurseries and other settings to make therapy meaningful and relevant to the child’s everyday life. Support may be delivered through direct therapy sessions, observation, advice, modelling strategies, staff guidance or programmes that can be embedded into daily routines.
Following assessment or review, therapy recommendations will be discussed with you so that sessions can be planned in a way that best supports your child’s needs.

Children’s participation in everyday life depends on many different skills working together. The Pyramid of Learning helps to show how areas such as sensory processing, movement, body awareness, postural control, coordination, reflex maturity and regulation can support higher-level skills such as attention, behaviour, communication, independence and learning.
At Crossroads Therapy, we consider these underlying foundations when planning therapy. This helps us understand what may be contributing to a child’s difficulties and how best to support progress in a meaningful and individualised way.

Therapy sessions can be delivered in a variety of settings to best support the child’s needs, including:
Therapy sessions are tailored to meet the specific needs of the child, which are often identified through a Crossroads assessment.
While we are happy to consider recommendations from external assessments, we cannot guarantee availability unless the case has been reviewed in full by our team. Each external report will be considered on an individual basis.
Sessions can also be arranged to fulfil Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) requirements.
Therapy can be booked in two main ways:
Please note that we cannot guarantee session availability for review-and-rebook arrangements, as bookings are dependent on therapist capacity at the time.
Please reach us at admin@crossroads-therapy.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Therapy sessions are billed on an hourly basis.
Each 1-hour session is structured as follows:
This structure ensures that each session is fully tailored to the child’s needs, while maintaining a focus on ongoing planning and documentation to track progress.
Occupational Therapy sessions are highly flexible and can be delivered in a way that best supports each individual child.
Support may include a combination of one-to-one direct sessions and in-class observations, where the therapist works within the classroom to offer real-time advice and guidance to educational staff.
In addition to working directly with the child, therapy time can also be used to upskill and train staff members in practical techniques and strategies that can be used throughout the school day to support the child’s development and participation.
The approach is always tailored to the child’s needs and the setting’s capacity, ensuring support is both effective and sustainable.
Crossroads will offer a consistent therapy time slot to your home, school, or nursery.
This time slot will remain the same each week, ensuring stability and continuity for the child, unless otherwise agreed upon by both parties. Any changes to the scheduled time can be discussed and arranged as needed.
At Crossroads Therapy, we aim to provide your child with a consistent therapist throughout their therapy journey.
Wherever possible, your child will see the same therapist each week, helping them to build a trusting relationship and feel comfortable during their sessions. Occasionally, sessions may need to be cancelled or rearranged due to illness or unforeseen circumstances.
Any changes to staffing will always be communicated clearly, and every effort will be made to maintain consistency for your child.
