A range of assessment options is available to help identify a child’s functional needs.
These assessments provide insight into a child's strengths and challenges, helping to uncover the reasons behind them. They support the development of a targeted therapy plan and offer clear, practical recommendations to guide both home and school environments in effectively meeting the child’s needs.
Observation sessions are available when a full assessment is not necessary.
During these sessions, a therapist observes the child for one hour within the school setting. A questionnaire will need to be completed in advance to help guide the observation.
Following the session, a list of recommendations will be provided. These may include simple changes or adaptations to the environment, along with advice on suitable equipment and strategies that can be implemented to support the child effectively.
Therapy sessions within your setting require access to a private side room with enough space for gross motor activities.
Each session lasts 45 minutes with the child, followed by an additional 15 minutes for therapist notes and planning (without the child present). The child will need to be available to leave lessons or other activities for the full duration of the session.
This service gives you the option to ‘buy in’ a Crossroads Occupational Therapist to your school (minimum of 2 hours per week).
